Certified Medical Administrative Asst. (CMAA)

Medical Administrative Assistants help doctors' offices and other healthcare offices run smoothly. They also help patients get the care they need.

This course is 80 hours. It is a hybrid class, which means you will learn both online and in person. You must come to class in person every Tuesday and Thursday.

What You Will Learn to Do:

  • Keep the front desk area neat
  • Welcome patients and visitors
  • Set up appointments
  • Collect basic patient information
  • Check if a patient's insurance is active
  • Get approval from insurance companies before some services
  • Collect patient co-pays
  • Talk with patients by phone and through the patient portal


This course can help prepare you for a job working with doctors and other healthcare providers.

After you finish the course, you will be ready to take the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) national certification exam. The National Health Career Association (NHA) offers the exam. The exam fee is included in your tuition.
