Getting Started: Teaching Online

In order to start teaching classes online at MCC, faculty must complete the following steps:

  1. Sign up for Teaching Online: Fundamentals in WebAdvisor (ZPODI 1031). For instructions on how to sign up go to MCC’s Professional & Organizations Development site. *
  2. Design your course (with at least 50% of the content available and ready to go).**
  3. Complete a Principles of Good Practice (PGP) form.
  4. Email your completed PGP to the Center for Teaching and Learning online@mclennan.edu.
  5. Wait for final suggestions and approval.
  6. Make any changes or updates needed for your course.
  7. Teach your course!

* If you have already taken the Teaching Online: Fundamentals course or the Effective Online Instruction course, please take note of the month and year you completed it. Then, proceed to step 2.

** If this is the first time this course has been taught online or in a blended format, you must submit approval to Instructional Council and obtain approval before moving to step 3.
