ANNOUNCEMENTS

Due to entrance exam testing dates, program applications for those interested in starting the Basic Operator Cosmetology program in Fall 2024 will be accepted until 4:00 pm on May 24, 2024. Applicants should always be aware that there is a possibility of a waiting list being created should more people qualify for enrollment post-exam than available seats in the next starting class. 

We currently have a waiting list for the Esthetics program.  

The Salon will open for the Spring on Thursday, January 11 and close on Friday, April 26. Appointments will be available on Thursdays and Fridays starting at 8:45 am. Appointment times vary depending on the service.

The Spa will open for Spring appointments on Thursday, January 11 and close on Friday, April 26. Appointments will be available on Thursdays and Fridays, at 8:45, 10:00, and 11:15 am. Chemical peel and Microdermabrasion services are currently not being offered, but are anticipated to be available mid to late March.

Massages are not currently being offered, but appointments are anticipated to be available in early to mid April.


FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS.

Q: Do you offer any part-time classes or programs?
A: No, all our programs and classes are full-time.

Q: Do you offer any night classes for the programs?
A: No, all our programs have classes during daytime hours.

Q: Do you have a lash extension program or do any of your programs cover lash extensions?
A: Our Cosmetology Basic Operator Program exposes students to lash extensions. Those interested in offering the service once licensed will need extra training in this area before doing so. At this time MCC does not have a lash program or offer lash classes.

Q: Do you have a nail technician program?
A: No, MCC does not offer a nail technician program at this time. Nails are covered in the Cosmetology program, and licensed Cosmetologists can offer/perform nail services. 

Q: Do you teach braiding and/or locs?
A: Our Cosmetology program covers braiding and loc basics. Our instructors strongly encourage anyone who is interested in braiding and/or locs either takes an online course or finds a stylist who specializes in braids/locs to mentor under. 

Q: Can I transfer in hours/classes from another Beauty College/Beauty Program?
A: We do not accept transfer hours/classes/credits from other Beauty Schools or Programs, you would have to take the our whole program if you wanted to enroll. Hours that you have accrued from other programs/schools that have been reported to TDLR will show up under your name in the TDLR system.

Q: Do any of your programs cover dermaplaning/dermablading, microneedling, and/or permanent makeup?
A: No, none of our programs will cover these skills and none of them can be performed/offered with an Esthetician or Cosmetologists license. These skills are all licensed and regulated by Texas Health and Human Services, information on them can be found on their website, https://dshs.texas.gov/tattoo-piercing/licensing.aspx

Q: Do you offer any Continuing Education or "refresher" classes for people who currently have a Cosmetology, Esthetician, or Massage Therapy license, or who completed one of these programs in the past?
A: No, at this time MCC does nor offer any Continuing Education courses in Cosmetology, Esthetics, of Massage Therapy. We do not offer any "refresher" type classes for people who completed programs in the past either.

Q: I have taken the TSI, do I need to take the reading comprehension entrance exam as well?
A: Yes, the TSI is not required or accepted for any of our programs, our reading comprehension entrance exam is a different exam from the TSI and a passing score on this exam is required in order to be accepted into the Cosmetology and Esthetics programs.

Q: I have a college degree, do I need to take the reading comprehension entrance exam?
A: Yes, a passing score on this exam is required for an applicant to be accepted into the Cosmetology and Esthetics program, regardless of any completed college courses or degrees.

Q:  I filled out an MCC school application, do I need to fill out a program application as well?
A: Yes, we only contact applicants regarding the entrance exam, enrollment, registration, etc. who have turned in program applications to our office. MCC school applications are not sent to our office.

Q: Do I need to meet with an advisor to enroll in any of the programs?
A: No, once you have been accepted into the program and receive your start date our office will register you for our classes. We have a mandatory information session for all incoming students for each of our programs, this session will be where the program director and instructors go over things like the student handbook, dress code, required supplies, class schedule, etc. with students. This will also be where students can ask the instructors questions regarding classes and the program if they have any.
