ARTS & SCIENCES

THE FOLLOWING DISCIPLINES REQUIRE A BACHELOR'S DEGREE WITH A MAJOR OR MINOR IN THE DISCIPLINE TAUGHT OR IN A CLOSELY RELATED AREA.

ARTS & SCIENCES

  • Integrated Reading & Writing (INRW): Minimum Requirements include a Bachelor's Degree in English or another discipline requiring extensive written work, or a Bachelor's degree in any area with evidence of writing expertise (i.e. published work).  A Master's Degree is preferred.

HEALTH PROFESSIONS

  • Associate Degree Nursing Clinical Instructor: Minimum Requirements include a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, three years' experience in a clinical setting, and a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Texas. A Master's Degree in Nursing is preferred.
  • Vocational Nursing Clinical Instructor: Minimum Requirements include an RN with an unencumbered State of Texas license, actively employed in nursing for the past three years, three years of varied nursing experience since graduation.
  • Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA): Associate's Degree is required. Must be currently Texas Licensed OTA with previous employment as a Licensed OTA with 2 years clinical experience. Will also accept an OT with a Bachelor's Degree and 1 year of previous employment experience, as well as current Texas licensure as an OT.
  • Surgical Technology Clinical Instructor: Minimum Requirements include possession of the CST credential in the field of Surgical Technology, and two years' experience. Experience may be in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or any combination of both, within the last five years.
  • Physical Therapist Assistant Part-time Instructor: Minimum Requirements include an Associate's Degree, current Texas PT or PTA license, with three years professional clinical experience as a licensed PT or PTA.
  • Veterinary Technology: Must be a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) within the State of Texas with a minimum of an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA accredited institution OR a current licensed veterinarian (DVM) in the State of Texas. Have at least three (3) years of experience in a clinical veterinary setting.

WORKFORCE EDUCATION

  • Computer Information Systems: Master's Degree in Computer Information Systems or related field is required when instructing transferable courses. Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or MIS accepted when teaching other CIS courses. Must have a minimum of three years professional work experience in the field.

SALARY

For all 3 semester hour courses, which ordinarily meet 3 lecture hours per week in a long semester (3.00 load hours), salaries range between $2,154 and $2,961 depending on the instructor's degree.
