Application Deadline

  • June 1 - for classes starting in the Fall
  • November 1 - for classes starting in the Spring

  2. Submit a Health Information Technology Program Application & Checklist.

Admission Criteria

Meeting the criteria below does not guarantee acceptance into the program. Students typically must score above the minimum requirements to be accepted. All decisions are made by the Health Information Technology Admissions Committee.

1. TSI Completion - You must be TSI complete before you can be admitted to the program.

2. GPA Requirement - A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 is required across these three courses:

  • HITT 1205 – Medical Terminology I
  • HITT 1301 – Health Data Content & Structure
  • HITT 1341 – Coding & Classification Systems

Additional requirements for these courses:

  • Only 2 attempts are allowed per course
  • The highest grade will be used
  • Courses must have been taken within the past 5 years

3. Background Check - A background check is required through the company designated by the HIT program. Admission may be affected depending on the nature and date of any convictions.

Class Size

The number of students accepted each year depends on the availability of clinical sites. Generally, no more than 25 students are admitted per year. Applicants are admitted in order of priority until the class is full.
