Media & Public Relations
Media Relations
The Marketing & Communications Department (MarCom) serves as a central hub for all media interactions, requests, and news dissemination. The team provides the following:
- informing the public of the value of the college and career programs we offer
- promoting the achievements, activities, and events of significance
- sharing stories of our accomplished students, faculty, and staff
- expanding general visibility and ensuring accurate information is conveyed
- advancing the goals of student recruitment, retention, and completion
News Media Interest
All news media, including podcasters and bloggers, are required to contact this department before reaching out to individual staff.

Visiting Our Campus
Media are asked to contact MarCom before arrival on campus. A team representative will arrange interviews and coordinate logistical needs. To protect the safety, privacy, and proprietary work of faculty, staff, and students, campus police are notified, and a department representative must escort members of the media at all times while on campus.
Staff Procedures
The Director of Marketing & Communications is the principal contact between MCC and media representatives. The Sports Information Specialist is the principal contact for media athletic inquiries. The College president serves as the official College spokesperson, but may name a designee for certain inquiries or interviews.
- Media Inquiries/Requests: Staff should promptly forward media inquiries directly to the Director or Associate Director of Marketing & Communications to coordinate and provide support. Notification to MarCom should be made in advance of speaking to any media.
- Promoting your Program/Event: Staff who have a story idea or who are interested in pursuing media coverage should obtain approval from their director and reach out to the contacts below. Doing this with a minimum of three weeks' advance notice is recommended!
- Additional Marketing & Communications Support: Visit the MarCom webpage for additional publicity opportunities.
