Engineering is all about solving problems and making the world a better place through creativity, design, and innovation. Engineers design bridges, develop medical devices, build robots, and improve everyday products and systems. Whether it’s renewable energy, transportation, or technology, engineering touches nearly every part of our lives.

Engineering as Your Next Step

If you enjoy math, science, building things, and asking how stuff works, engineering might be the perfect path for you. It’s a field that offers exciting challenges, opportunities to make a difference, and a strong return on your investment. Engineers are in high demand and often work in industries like aerospace, environmental sustainability, healthcare, manufacturing, energy, and software development. Engineering careers also tend to offer competitive salaries and long-term job stability.

Start Your Engineering Journey at MCC

At McLennan Community College, you’ll build a strong foundation in engineering through hands-on projects, supportive faculty, and small class sizes that ensure personal attention. From your first semester, you’ll explore different fields of engineering through interactive labs and industry-grade tools. As you move into more advanced coursework, you’ll learn to apply calculus, mechanics, and problem-solving strategies to real engineering problems. Whether you're planning to transfer to a university or preparing to enter the workforce, MCC’s Engineering program equips you with the knowledge and confidence to move forward.

Finish Here or Transfer Anywhere

Whether you plan to stay local or transfer beyond, MCC is your launchpad. If you're rooted in McLennan County and want to stay close to home, you can complete a full four-year degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering right here, thanks to our partnership with Tarleton State University—at a fraction of the cost of most programs. These degrees open doors to in-demand careers in manufacturing, construction, infrastructure, and public works across Central Texas.

Planning to transfer? We’ve got you covered there too. MCC offers the first two years of coursework for a wide range of engineering fields, including:

  • Civil
  • Mechanical/Aerospace
  • Electrical/Computer
  • Industrial
  • Chemical
  • Biomedical

No matter your goal, we’ll help you build the most efficient path to your degree. Learn more about the MCC to Tarleton program or explore our current transfer agreements here.

There’s a Place for You in Engineering

MCC education is about opening doors. No matter when or where you went to school or where you’re starting from, you belong here. Advisors at Highlander Central will help you get started and placed in the right courses. Once you're ready for precalculus, you can begin engineering classes – but you don’t have to wait to get involved.  Join our engineering community from day one with access to the Engineering Commons, student groups, homework nights, and our campus chapter of the American Society for Mechanical Engineers.

The first step is to apply to McLennan.
